HISTORY OF THE BALL

Real Madrid v Bayern Munich was a great game kept you guessing to the very end on which team would go through . Both teams where very capable of grabbing victory with a place in final against Chelsea at stake . An extra incentive for Bayern with the final being held in their own stadium.

But all the quality ended when it came to the penalty shoot out . The fine tuned millionaire footballers kicking a computer designed aerodynamic piece of synthetic material at the goal . Ok the goalie saved a couple but they where bad penalty's . For players of that calibre , the first official penalty was scored by Billy Heath for Wolves on the 14th September 1891 against Accrington Stanley Wolves won 5.0 , but he would not of used the same ball far from it , but still 12 yards, Here is a quick look at the evolution of the ball in football.

The football

Although tales of football’s early history involve hogs’ heads being used during medieval kick-abouts, the first dedicated footballs were made from animal bladders, blown up by mouth and then knotted. However, the ease with which these bladders burst led to more solid, leather and cork-encased versions being constructed in Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries, and to rubber and wood being used elsewhere. A breakthrough came in the mid-1800s with the invention of an india-rubber bladder, and a pump with which to inflate it, meaning that the roundness of the ball could – for the first time – be guaranteed.
In 1872,England’s Football Association laid down the first guidelines, stating that a football should be spherical, with a circumference of 68 centimetres, cased in leather, and weigh between 396 and 453 grams at the start of play. The mention of its weight at the kick-off was an important distinction as these early footballs had a propensity to absorb water, often more than doubling in weight during the course of a match. Combined with the laces that were required to hold them together, this made the task of heading decidedly hazardous, with concussions a common occurrence.
Regional variations also persisted, with the first-ever FIFA World Cup™ final in 1930 a case in point.Agentina and Uruguay had both brought their own balls and there was an impassioned pre-match argument over which should be used. The compromise? Argentina's ball was used in the first half and Uruguay's in the second, with that change at the interval perhaps crucial in La Celesteturning a 2-1 half-time deficit into a historic 4-2 triumph. The ball also emerged as a factor in the 1934 final, when Italy– 1-0 down to Czechoslovakia with eight minutes remaining – equalised through a Raimundo Oris shot that swerved wildly beyond the goalkeeper’s grasp. Gli Azzurri went on to win the cup, and the following day Orsi attempted 20 times to repeat his ball-bending trick for the assembled photographers – failing every time!
Distortion of the ball’s shape was not uncommon at advanced stages of matches and could have been crucial to the trajectory of Orsi’s fateful strike. Adidas began supplying balls for FIFA tournaments in 1970, beginning with the iconic ‘Telstar’, and though still leather, a crucial advancement was these balls were coated with a special polyurethane to eliminate water absorption. However, it wasn’t until Mexico 1986, and the adidas ‘Azteca’, that the FIFA World Cup saw its first fully synthetic football, although the years since have witnessed further milestones, with the 1998 ‘Tricolore’ breaking with a purely black-and-white colour scheme, and the 2006 'Teamgeist' and 2010 'Jabulani' scaling new heights of technological sophistication.

FOOTBALL PLAYER'S NO TIME TO IMPROVE HANDCAPS

2012 is a busy Football year for high profile players , What with Euro 2012 the Olympic Games ,then before they know it the new season will be here. So after taking their family’s on holidays pre season training / pre season tour /friendlies . It will be kick off 2012/2013 season .

So for all the Golfer's amongst the players there will be not much time to improve there handy caps. Leaving the best handy caps in the hands of ex players and pundits . So the players will have to wait for 2013/14 to try and clime the football players handy cap ladder . Lets have a look at how it stands from a year ago according to
.sport.co.uk Posted by Harry Smith

10) Teddy Sheringham
After enjoying an illustrious playing career which spanned a gargantuan 25 years, Teddy now unwinds by playing golf among other things. More often than not he plays with Shearer and Owen...golf that is. The former Tottenham and Manchester United forward is said be a handy a player but remains more focused on his love at poker at the moment, although his handicap remains a very respectable eight.
9) Matt Le Tissier
Le God, as he is known in Southampton, fills his weekends with his three guilty pleasures football punditry, playing golf and watching Countdown into the wee hours. He probably should not have admitted to the last one but it’s out in the open and everyone knows his sordid little secret. The former Saints man has a handicap of six.

8) Gianfranco Zola
The current Hammers boss can always afford a bit of time off from Upton Park to play a sly couple holes of golf. This is probably why his team are having a torrid time of it, sitting second from bottom of the Premier League, suffice to say his clubs maybe gathering dust for the foreseeable future if he wants to drag them away from the drop zone.
7) Ian Wright
Wrighty has not only been doing the rounds on the television but also on the golf course. He finds golf provides inner calm after all the turmoil caused by all the dodgy TV ads and mind numbing presenting that has haunted his career after he hung up his boots. With all that time he spends trying to cleanse himself of the sinful Chicken Tonight advert it is no wonder that he has a handicap of seven which came into good use when he played for Team Europe at the All*Star Cup at Celtic Manor.
6)   Ruud Gullit
The former Dutch captain has been playing golf  Ruud Gullitfor a number of years now and has a handicap of seven. Apparently he was better in his youth but since he cut his hair he just has not been the same. Recently though his golfing prowess has been steadily increasing as he is a two-time winner with Team Europe of the All*Star Cup.
5) Alan Shearer
A prolific goal scorer for club and country, Shearer enjoys almost as much success off the tee with a handicap of six. Just like Lee Dixon and Gary Lineker he is a regular pundit on Match of the Day, although he took a little timeout to manage Newcastle into the second tier of English football. He should have stuck to the golf and the gab.
4) Lee Dixon
The former Gooner, who won the English top flight in three different decades, has made a seamless transition into punditry. Like many of his contemporary couch potatoes he dabbles in a bit of golf too. With a very respectable handicap of five Lee is a regular at Woburn Golf Club in Buckinghamshire.
3)  Michael Owen
With his new lease of life at Man Utd, Michael’s golfing career, which flourished while he was at Newcastle, looks to have been put on hold for now. He has been playing since he was seven years old and his handicap is reportedly five. The little section on Owen’s golfing prowess in his much maligned summer brochure appeared to really swing the balance for Sir Alex. Getting not only a new striker but a new golf partner for free was the bargain of the century.
2) Gary Lineker
The second biggest swinger is of course Gary Lineker. He was a great player, better sports commentator and apparently a magnificent golfer. With a handicap of four, Gary can find his way around 18 holes very capably and that is probably why he has been made the new face (and ears) of golf at the BBC.
1) Jimmy Bullard
Number one spot has to go to Jimmy for the simple fact that he is a bit of a legend...oh, and he is pretty nifty with a golf club too. The mop-haired midfielder has a handicap of one, not bad but considering all the practice he gets when he’s out injured, it should probably be a little better. He was quoted saying “I would like to become a serious player in the future”, not too sure whether he was talking about football or golf though.

Well we can all see where the T.V deals are done . Would be interesting to see the very latest Professional football player handy cap table . Would not be surprised if that whining little shit Gary Neville is on the list . As he brown noses Sky TV bosses so he can get his weasel face in are living rooms . Or making us feel sick while having a pint down the the local . Don’t care how good he is on a golf course.

SKY PLEASE FUCK HIM OFF

LIVERPOOL ASIAN PLAYERS MAKES SENSE IN EVERY WAY

Yet another disappointing result at Anfield . Probably not as bad as previous with the forth coming F.A cup final softening the blow . The football we played at times was top notch but again the finishing and the dreaded woodwork foiling the show , Not to mention a great display again from the visiting goal keeper. . But the lack of sticking the ball in the back of the net is becoming comical . So here is hoping that we ripple net on numerous occasions in the final in two weeks .

So time to look for the future and put this money ball strategy into practice . I am convinced Liverpool are going to look to the Asian markets to buy players , It makes very good commercial sense , but are they good enough and what is on offer .

Liverpool's chief sponsor has urged the club to sign Asian stars in the near future. Standard Chartered, who signed an £80 million shirt sponsorship deal with the club for four years in September 2009, believe a signature would help the club in their global promotion, and help them connect with the market in Asia.

But the one that stands out for me is

Yu Dabao (22) 1.83m Striker, Winger  MORE INFO CLICK LINK http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu_Dabao

Prior to joining Benfica many clubs were reportedly interested in the young talent, including Ajax, Newcastle and Rangers However, the Chinese striker decided to join Benfica on a 3-year deal. In his debut match, only 5 days and 3 training sessions after he arrived in Portugal, Dabao scored 3 goals and assisted a fourth in a junior squad Benfica match against Portimonense.
Due to Dabao's strong performances for Benfica's junior squad, the striker was given the chance of training with the senior team for the pre-season, and was officially added to the Benfica senior squad in 2007-08.
Yu Dabao made his official debut with Benfica on September 26, 2007, in a Portuguese League Cup game against Estrela da Amadora 0-0 (4-5 win to Benfica on penalties), having played the 90 minutes.
On May 13, 2009, Yu revealed in a telephone interview that he was about to leave Portugal to spend the offseason holiday back in his homeland China, he received a call from Benfica asking him to stay in Lisbon until further notice. He made 10 appearances for Olvais Moscavide and scored 4 goals, but was unable to save them from relegation as they suffered defeat in the last match of the season, for which they needed a win to survive.
He had a trial withF.C Dallas in the MLS in February 2010,but didn't get a contract. He moved back to China and signed a contract with Tianjin Teda.
In the morning of 27 February 2012, it was reported that Yu would transfer to Guangzhou Evergrande with a reported fee of ¥15 million. However, Guangzhou Evergrande withdrew from the transfer talk in the afternoon that day. He transferred to Dalian Aerbin who was newly promoted to Super League the next day.

China has had well over 200 years connection with Liverpool having one of the countries largest and thriving China Towns. I am sure any Chinese Player would be made very welcome in the city.
You always see many Japanese people in the city with the Beatles connection, and attend the University in great numbers , so again they would be very welcome I am sure.

One of my big traditions on match day is to get cheese pie and chips , from the Chinese chippy across the road the road from the Kop . I take it in if the cheese in pie is Red its a LIVERPOOL win , if its White the result is not what we want . You have guessed it, there have been a lot of white cheese pies over the last few seasons .
!!MAYBE THEY ARE TRYING TO SAY SOMETHINK!! (Lets give it a go Kenny) YNWA

FIFA Football 2003

Title song TO GET DOWN (FAT BOY SLIM REMIX) BY TIMO MAAS (click link ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8z0kuzM13c

FIFA Football 2003 features completely new gameplay from the previous titles. EA revamped the outdated graphics used in FIFA 2001 and 2002, and introduced new graphics featuring more detailed stadiums, players, and kits. Club Championship Mode was introduced with the feature of playing against 17 of Europe's top clubs in their own stadiums and the fans singing their unique chants and songs. A TV-style broadcast package gave highlights at half-time and full-time, as well as comprehensive analysis. One of the most anticipated new features was EA Sport's "Freestyle Control" which allows the user to flick the ball on and lay it off to team mates. Other additions include greater likenesses of players such as Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho, as well as realistic player responses. FIFA Football 2003 was also the first game in the series to use the EA Trax.

FIFA Football 2004

Title song RED MORNING LIGHT BY KINGS OF LEON (click link )  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QT-q4khN9E

While not adding much to the game engine, the biggest new inclusion in FIFA Football 2004 is secondary divisions, which allow the player to take lower ranked teams into the top leagues and competitions (a promotion/relegation system was present since the 2000 edition, but none up until this one featured second-tier leagues). A new gameplay feature dubbed "off the ball" was introduced, which is the ability to simultaneously control two players, in order, for example, to move a second player into the box in anticipation of a pass.

FIFA Football 2005

Soundtrack Paul Oakfield DJ   (click link ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh-OU2fFTzc

FIFA Football 2005 was released much earlier than the usual late October date to obtain a head start over Pro Evo 4 and avoid clashing with EA Sports' own Fifa Street The game features the return of the create-a-player mode, as well as an improved Career mode. The biggest difference compared to previous titles in the series is the inclusion of first-touch gameplay which provides gamers with the ability to perform "real-life" tricks and passes. It is also the first version to feature the full. Mexican League The game has no opening video, but its soundtrack is headlined by British DJ Paul Oakfield who composed the FIFA Theme especially for the game, using some sounds from the game such as crowd noises and commentary. This was the last title released for the original PlayStation in the US. The game also features authentic crowd chants edited by producer Dan Motut

FIFA 06

Title song HELICOPTER BY BLOC PARTY (click link ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPt-UxU-Ycc

FIFA's developers made a complete overhaul of the game engine for this installment of the game, claiming a dramatic increase in the control of play, having rewritten more than half the game's code. In addition to a renovation of the engine, which discards the "off the ball" system, the developers boasted a significantly more involved Career mode and the introduction of "team chemistry" which determines how well team members play together. This installment breaks with the long tradition of commentary from Match of the Days,John Motson and (more recently) Ally McCoist, who are replaced by ITV's CliveTyldesley and former Sky Sports pundit Andy Gray, who had already worked in the series as guest commentator.
One of the new features in FIFA 06 was a special "retro" which features nostalgia of the game. Inside it includes an unlockable classic biographies section, a memorable moments video compilation which features ten of the most memorable moments as judged by the FIFA 06 developers, a video compilation with a retrospective view of every game in the FIFA series and the chance to play the first ever game in the FIFA series which was titled as "FIFA 94". The game also features for the first time a Classic 11 team consisting of great football legends and a World 11 team consisting of current great superstars. Both teams have the Cardiff Millennium Stadium as their primary ground. These clubs must be unlocked in the "Fan Shop".

FIFA 07

Title Song: "Can't Get Enough (Mekon Remix)" by "The Infadels (click link )  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COtbLmErmoY

The main differences from the previous game are a new "Interactive Leagues" function, new stadiums such as the new Wembley Stadium and Emirates Stadium, and the ability to create custom teams and Turkcell Super League returns after seven years of absence from the series. The game's front-end and graphics engine remain largely the same. The X Box 360 version uses a completely new game engine which was created from scratch for the system. This Xbox 360 version also features a much reduced team line-up, completely removing all lower division teams and focusing on the four main European leagues, plus the Mexican Clausura and national teams.

FIFA 08

Title Song: "Sketches (20 Something Life)" by La Rocca (click link ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_EAs6mrL48

Fifa 08 introduced a new game mode called "Be a Pro", in which the player controls only a single player on the field. This version also introduced a larger club section including the League of Ireland and the Hyundai A -League of Australia for the first time. Unlike Fifa 06and 07 however,Fifa08 does not include any memorable moments or season highlights. FIFA 08 does not have a version for the original Xbox which means that Fifa 08was the last game of the series to feature on the console. The Xbox has taken over permanently since FIFA 08.
The debut version for the Wii introduced motion controls for shooting, as well as three mini-games that make use of the Wii Remote

FIFA 09

Title Song: "Let U Know" by Plastilina Mosh (click link ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOYAi4hDpko

FIFA 09 features a revamped collision system and an option for 10 versus 10 "Be a Pro" online matches, and the new Aididas Live Season" feature, which updates all the players' stats in a particular league based on the player's form in real life. Although the feature is activated through microtransactions, gamers have access to one free league of their choice from the moment they activate the service to the end of the 2008-09 season. Online play has also been improved in FIFA 09, with a feature called "FIFA 09 Clubs" allowing players to form or join clubs and field their strongest team online. The game has met with generally positive reception from reviewers.
Tyldesley and Gray again provide the commentary in the English version. However in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, Tyldesley is replaced by Martin Tyler For the first time, users can also purchase extra commentator voices in different languages from the Play station store Another option for the English language is Tyldesley and Andy Townsend

FIFA 10

FIFA 10 has an extended Manager Mode which includes a new Assistant Manager that can be used to take care of the team's line-up and to rotate the squad based on importance of the upcoming match and improved finances. The "Player Experience and Growth System" has changed. Player growth will now be determined by in-game performance, demands placed on the player, and achievements based on the player's particular position. The games also features 50 stadiums and 31 leagues, among which the Russian Premier League is introduced to the series (except for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions). It also includes 360 degrees player control instead of the 8-direction control in previous games.
