PLAYER POWER

At Loftus Rd yesterday we witness a totally different Liverpool. One I would like to see a lot more of. We did carry on  the path that Rodgers wants the club to go, ie a slick passing game. But it was a lot more direct. We did try the long ball when there was something on. A thing that you can tell Rodgers dislikes.  But the passing for passing sake was a lot less in evidence. Especially round the edge of our own box, giving opposition teams a rest bite with a free option to push up on us.  The Rogers way, wanting the team to play through the opposition.

A very dodgy tactic if you’re not Barcelona , as it has showed with the team performances in 2012, more so at Anfield .

But yesterday it seemed like a case of when the cats away let’s mix it up a bit. QPR set up the same as most teams have done against us. Letting us have the ball, "let them try and pass it through us". 

You do not have to be a rocket scientist to work it out. I have watched in horror this year how one dimensional our play has been.

But yesterday the leash was off with Gerrard in control. In dare I say it “a player manager role”. The play was varied something that has been missing in our play. QPR could not cope with this,

I hope this is a learning curve for Rodgers. The team has got to show more variety in their play. If the long ball is on use it. I have watched Suarez from his early days in Holland he loves the occasional long ball. He is a very multi-faceted player so if Liverpool where to mix their play it would suit him down to the ground. Let’s hope this performance kicks us on, But I have said that a few times this year. Then it turns out we have taken one step forward, two steps back. ARE NIALLS FACE SPEAKS FOR ITS SELF 

Well it has taken 2 days of shaking off disappointment to write this blog about Saturday’s abysmal performance. We had done a lot of season ticket swapping so the family could sit together in the main stand as a pre Xmas treat. This was the game we were to continue the push to the top 4 slots. With pre match pub banter of people saying even 2^nd slot was on the cards. Well how wrong people can be….. Obviously the only people not to share our optimism were the fucking players.

The first 10 minutes we took control as usual. Villa looked a really poor side ……Suarez had 3 goal scoring chances on each occasion he opted to pass.. As if under instructions to do so. From then on it got worse with us failing in the following points.

To name but a few but it is the commitment that is the most worrying. It falls on the manager to motivate it is a true indication of an unhappy dressing room. We had a chance on Saturday to really get the teams above us looking over their shoulders …But as many times in past 2 seasons may be more we took 2 steps back ….We have turned into Coventry of the 60s 70s and 80s a none moving mid table bag of shite….So frustrating and not good enough.

The day had a bright spot as it was on to the annual Bunnyman show at the academy in town. Which the band showed loads of commitment …..Prompting me to tweet ……AT LEAST LIVERPOOL'S MUSICIANS SHOWED COMMITMENT ……It is shame Rodgers did not drag the team kicking and screaming to the gig to put some fight and commitment into their performances . For me the jury is still out on Rodgers and come to mention it the American owners. As of now for me they still have not brought any think to our club.

But back on to the more Committed music side of things. The Hillsborough justice single is out today so let’s show the team what commitment really means….and make it the biggest seller of the year .YNWA JF96 .

Was having a tweeted conversation with our kid at half time of yesterdays game with Swansea . We were talking about how Enrique has turned into the new Ray Kennedy. He had mentioned this the week before at the Wigan game to a mutual friend . His new role helps us come to this conclusion in a very positive way . It is noticeable  for more reasons . The fact that Kennedy was bought from Arsenal  as an active center forward . But he was played by Shankley as an all round midfield player . Classic by Shankley letting a player play to his own strengths.  So Rodgers is taken on the great mans ideals, Giving an attacking defender an attacking midfielder role .  not a bad blue print to take on board.

But I have noticed a few things over the last 2 months that has reminded me of Shankleys teams . I recall Shankley saying more than once"let the ball do the work" "Why touch the ball when you don,t have too" I have watched a few Liverpool players doing this lately letting the ball run other than giving it unnecessary touches . But for me unlike Shankley teams we are taking far to many  passes . One of the main culprits of this in the Swansea game was surprisingly Gerrard, it was not one of his most memorable games . So Rodgers is always saying how he respects Liverpool's history . That has got to be a good thing . Vugar Huseynzade, a 21 year old student from Sweden, has successfully gained employment as the manager of the Azerbaijani Premier League club FK Baku's 'A' side, with his only experience being Football Manager on PC.

Vugar Huseynzade has never managed a real football club, but he does have a Business Management degree from Boston University, spent some time doing work experience at a US based sports agency, and played plenty of Football Manager.

Huseynzade told the Scandinavian newspaper, Aftonbladet, that he "has always wanted to work in football, and [has] played Football Manager since 2002."

Huseynzade was initially hired earlier this year by FK Baku in an assistant role, where his knowledge and the way he managed his team in Football Manager impressed the club.

It seems that was all he needed to land his dream job - ESPN reports he even beat big names like Jean-Pierre Papin to the position.

Well it was only a matter of time before this sort of thing happened . I think you are going to see a lot more of this going on . It will certainly knock the wages of mangers and coaches down . If cyber  managers become successful , but surly they will have a problem getting the respect  of the players .

PASSING FOR PASSING SAKE

Liverpool's first half display was woeful yesterday .It defiantly fell in to the passing for passing sake cat-agree . But I was pleasantly surprised when Rodgers agreed with this . Blaming him self for getting it wrong. The team passing to much and not getting the ball forward quickly enough.  Great... at last the main problem is being addressed .
The second half was a different story . We were more direct with Enrique leading the charge man of the match awarded rightfully so . Gerrard showing he was a man of steel not like Terry  But I was worried for a while . The more the game went on it like we were not only going to snatch a goal if not win the game.

So on to Suarez he gets better and better wot a player . He was that Uruguayan Werewolf in London  Terrifying the Chelsea defense . I am counting the days of to the trans fare window so we can get him a striking partner. I am sticking my neck out to say.... still after a year going on about it ......That Cavani is the best choice I am sure we can pries him away from Napoli . What a Christmas prezzie that would be for every Liverpool supporter . Fingers and every think else crossed for that one .

We now have a run of very winnable, games but we have been there before . We can not afford to blow this one . Even more so if we want to attract the likes of Cavani to Anfield.... A top four finish is still well in our reach . YNWA JF96  

NO PLAN B AGAIN

MIX IT UP 

It was a descent performance last night, as always commitment from our young side . But as I am probably not the only one the one pass to many side ways or backwards was frustrating .  That game last night would of been a walk in the crowd but for that fact . The inability to get the ball forward quickly was playing in to the opposition hands . One pass to many in those tight little triangles made it easy for Anzhi to fall back and let us have the ball with no penetration.   Then one long ball just before half time one defensive mistake their striker was in we were one down . The rest of the game Anzhi again were content to let us have the possession and sit deep . You always had the feeling they would do the same again to score a second .

Which brings me to the problem with Rogers tactics NO PLAN B . Surly he must give the green light to play a more direct form of play when the score line is against us . Yes we played some good stuff at times, But with no teeth what so ever , I don't want to watch Liverpool have 70% possession game in game out and lose or at the best draw . Its not the time to copy Barcelona they have been sussed as it was shown earlier in the week .

I like Rogers and sticking to his guns is one of the reasons I like him, but not when it is costing us games . He talks a lot about variety . Well variety there is NOT . Possession is fine , possession for possessions sake , is not . We need variety getting the ball forward quicker is variety . THE TRUTH

After the news that there will be an inquiry into a cover up at Hillsborough. How far up the ladder does this go?. After reading the 400 page report in full .it brings back one thing that through the emotion of the terrible event that I had forgot.

 (Q) The reason why I never went to the game.
 It was my first reaction to the events unfolding after 6 minutes past 3 on that fateful day. The crushing in and outside of the ground at the Leppings Lane end of the ground was so bad in 1988, It put me right off going to the 1989 semi-final. It jogged my memory about the crush at the turnstiles. But more so the crush going through the tunnel, to the central pen behind the goal.

 I remember two thirds through the tunnel how bad the crush had been with people starting to panic. As we came out of the tunnel we moved left. I can now recall a message over the tannoy to step backward to avoid unnecessary crowd congestion or words to that effect. Within 10 minutes the crush had gone. I had looked up the tunnel 30 minutes into the game. The tunnel was completely empty. As I realized through reading the report the Police had shut the gates to the tunnel. Then emptying the tunnel, sending people to the side pens. It was all pretty scary stuff cementing my decision not to go the following year.
As the events of 1989 unfolded being young these memories were erased by frantic phone calls trying to get information about families and friends.
But reading the report I get the feeling how could anyone let this happen, more so with the events of the previous year.  Which the report goes into in detail. 

The conspiracy theorist round the world could jump on the band wagon saying that 1988 was a dry run.  If you wanted to inflict great harm on a group of people, Hillsborough would be the perfect place.
I hear you say that is going too far the Yorkshire Police planned the disaster. Well it is not as far-fetched as a Police force being so incompetent. Followed by the mother of all cover ups, secret meeting in pubs, altering statements the list goes on.

So planned attack aside how far up the chain of command did this cover up go?. The rift between Liverpool the city and Thatcher was no secret. The city’s socialist roots Derrick Hatton held her to ransom nearly bringing her to yield. The city’s backing of the Miners going up against her on picket lines. Along with OH YES the SOUTH YORKSHIRE POLICE.  Her uniformed thugs deployed all over the country including the poll tax riots . Also I think they were involved in the Battle of the Bean field.

So the City of Liverpool was not on the top of her Christmas card list.  But let us not forget Heysel where 39 mostly Italian fans lost their lives. I was at Heysel it was a cigarette paper thin chance that it was not Liverpool fans that lost their lives in Brussels. But Thatcher had no ears for the failing in the authority’s to stage the final in a death trap stadium. Or the fact that two thirds of the stadium was allocated to Italian fans. Considering that Liverpool FC were the reigning champions. The fact that Liverpool fans in Rome the year before had been on the wrong end of countless viscous attacks and stabbings. Her barging powers in Europe must have taken a nose dive after Heysel. After all Brussels is the home of the European Parliament who knows what deals she was planning when Heysel happened.

So was Hillsborough pay back, it seems so far-fetched  But was behavior of the South Yorkshire Police/South Yorkshire Ambulance Service on that day far-fetched  The neutral before the report thought it was.  The fact that the Police/ Ambulance Service had a call sign to use for a major incident, it was never used. But the list of injustice is endless. So who is going to take the wrap, how high is it going to go? All we can do is watch this space and support the families for justice at last. YNWA JF96


 

STOKE BORE DRAW

I was going to give the Stoke game a miss. But I was thinking that it was the perfect game for Liverpool to start my wished run of  hard fought 1 or 2 nil wins . Which is what Rogers hinted the team really needed. But as I predicted in my blog on Friday that it was going to be a 1 nil win. I gave up and headed to Anfield.

 The game was as predicted Stoke playing like Stoke.  If ever a team had come for a draw it was Stoke. So it was no surprise, as it was no surprise to their Woolly Back supporter’s. With constant chants of songs like!!!!WE PLAY LIKE WE WANT!!!!. .But as Liverpool knew how Stoke we’re going to play the game.... Stoke knew how Liverpool would play the game. Stoke got away with it, all very predictable.
 That is all very well but we are despite for a plan B, Stoke don't need one .Liverpool have a pedigree to look after. “We can look on the bright side we don't support Stoke”.  I said to a group of mouthy Stoke supporters in town after the game. We are going through a frustrated period. But I felt sorry for Stoke supporters. As soon as Stoke try to play any sort of descent football they will be in a relegation fight not a future I would want.
 So the game could have been so much of a lift. It was never going to be a Liverpool high scoring win.  But one of those rare 1 nil wins was on the cards. Which as I keep going on about it is what Liverpool need at the moment , a string of them  That is where the plan B comes in ….we don't have one . With Liverpool pressing as the clock passed 80mins a scrambled goal. Could have started a run of hard fought narrow wins.
 But not to be…. it is Reading next. Will Reading be like Stoke? It is a huge a possibility. Do they know how Liverpool will play? Well at the moment they will. So until we show some variety in our game plan it could be a repeat of Stokes visit.
 So I can take some comfort and look on the bright side we are not a Stoke.  But Liverpool must find ways of breaking such teams down.
  As for Suarez diving the thing is he gives his all. It’s just something that prick Pulis can jump on the band wagon for a moan. Too friendly with whiskey nose for my liking. Over half Pulis’s team on yellow cards it speaks for its self. Let’s hope the suspensions add up and he will be forced to play some players that are not yard dogs. You never know they might try and play football. Something your average Stoke fan has not seen for a while. YNWA JF96

RODGERS SOUNDED RATTLED

For the first time Rodgers seemed a little bit rattled in the after match interview. Personally I enjoyed the game ...he aimed his frustration at the defense with comments like. “We should not have to score 4 or 5 goals to win games”. “It is something that we have to address” The lack of concentration for periods in the game.

 So we have gone to not being able to buy a goal. To finding our shooting boots, only for another aspect of our play to fall by the way side. It is like the hole in the dyke was plugged only for more leaks to appear. The match its self was enjoyable, well I enjoyed it, Other than the result... Some of Liverpool’s play was breath taking before we scored... Then again that is where for me the problem lies.  As I blogged last month apart from the Norwich, Young Boys, games I worry when we take the lead. That was what Rodgers was trying to get across. Instead he for me was leading people to think he was pointing the blame, now at the defense.
 It is the whole team’s problem, what game plan we take once we have scored. He hinted we should be winning games 1 or 2 nil. But for me he should have made that clearer. Taking the team as one unit to address the problem of conceding after scoring is a lot less miss jointed. Than going along the road of it was mainly a defense problem. He would have done himself a lot more favors if he had made this point.
 So too put it as he should have put it last night. We are doing fine but once we take the lead. The team as a whole has to protect that. This is something the team is going work hard on. That would have pleased me, the simple solution protect the lead.
 A few 1.0 wins is the order of the day. Starting with Stoke on Sunday get to the bookies

Having watched Suarez a long time before he came to Liverpool . I know his plays inside out . The diving thing, he plays with a low center of gravity So when it seems like he is diving he is not The thing that struck me today which I am well chuffed about is.... His use of nutmegs he is now fainting his nutmegs... With defenders keeping their legs together there fore off balance... Then he whips round class .. He is starting to plan, an injury free Suarez this season 20 goals plus . Suarez is a football machine always trying to improve . 

When asked about his many goals he scored for Ajax he replied "yes I scored many goals but against not very good oppression" That is saying a lot about Suarez . He is always trying to improve him self  The Evra thing must of been so frustrating for him . I still think it was orchestrated  by whiskey nose . Suarez was a player that slipped through his fingers to his arch enemy he did not like that . No proof but I smell a rat .But that is in the past thank fuck...  With an array of young promising players starting to turn it on around Suarez.  I can see him going into over drive . He can now afford not to be selfish as he showed for the third goal yesterday .

There is so many more options around him . Which also opens things up for Gerrard who has proved he plays well with Suarez . The perfect thing for Stevie is that Pirlo roll as he gets older that sort of roll would give him 2 more seasons... at least at the top flight with Liverpool . It was a great all round performance by Liverpool yesterday... Making the next match so important to keep the memento going. .

THE STATE OF PLAY

NOW KEEP THE LEAD 

All though the result went against Liverpool yesterday our play was positive and showed variety . The only thing we are missing in Rogers reign is to give a team a good thrashing . Yesterday we could of scored from all aspects of our play. Yesterday with out some laughable referring decisions we could of walked the game . Down to ten men it did not alter the way we played United were still second best .  The fact we were down to ten stopped United getting a real thrashing.....

But the thing that still worries me about our play is how we cope with the situation of going a goal up . It has been a problem over the last few seasons it is so frustrating . As soon as we go a goal up we seem confused on what tactic to use . Whether to stick or twist it seems like we are surprised that we are a goal up it has happened time and time again .

How many Liverpool supporters out there have started to feel very uncomfortable once Liverpool have taken the lead . We do not know how to handle a lead . The old Liverpool would have done one thing “KEPT THE BALL”......

That is all we need to do . We start to do that one simple thing we will start to clime the table . Every one bangs on about not scoring goals . But it is the goals we concede cheaply after scoring fucks me off . The amount of teams beating us after being a goal down is unacceptable . Q.P.R last season being the cherry on the top . It happened again yesterday , Something Rogers surly must make his number one priority . YNWA JF96 …......

IN THEIR MEMORY

The cloud that has been draped over the families of the 96, the city, the club, football, any supporter of sport, people in general. Is moving away,,, the truth,,, really is out . Now the families have got a solid platform on which they can move forward . In memory of their flesh and blood who were so miss treated, worse than animals which led to their deaths . I wish them all the best, my support,,, with whatever path they take in the future .

We can all move on in their memory. It affects everyone. It could have happed at any big event. To any bunch of travelling consumers. It just so happens that football supporters are super travelling consumers. What would the economy do without them from buses, trains, planes, food, drink, fuel giving business quick fixes on a regular basis. Most supporters are only at the ground for 110 minutes tops. Football is not just for the middle to upper classes. It is a working class game. All classes should be treated the same. Not priced out……

Or being treated like shit by incompetent Governments and Police. Football supporters should have huge say on every think in football…maybe even the bigger picture... After all travelling broadens the mind; Football supporters do a lot of that. On their own backs as well. With all the shit and heart ache that goes with it. Supporters all over the world in any sport should have more of a say. Making sure Hillsbough ,Heysel ,Ibrox ,Port Siad many many others from all sports and events never happen again .After all the supporters are the real people in the know. Not scape goats as proved at Hillsbough. More Supporter consultation, that would be one of my, in Memory of the 96 hopes.

As for the club it should be a new start. Liverpool supporters where the hero’s not the villains on that day.  Many more would have died . If it was not for their actions, now proved beyond question. The owners now know what they have bought into no bullshit. The way everyone pulled together like a family. FSG you will have to earn the right to be in a family like that. You have the chance to give the club a new start. No fucking bullshit. Let the manager do his job. But more important a commitment to get going on the Stadium. One way or another put something into the City of Liverpool. Who would not want to be in a family like that?. Refurbish Anfield go ahead with the fan quarter do something for the club, supporters, the City but most of all the Memory of the 96. Liverpool Football Supporters who went to support their club and paid with their lives. That was no fault of their own. You should be humbled by what you have bought into so back it up with action. The thing that pissed me off more than any thing else about the transfer window as far as Liverpool are concerned Was the fact that Ganston Ramires went to a shit hole like Southampton . Has Southampton got more of a pull than Liverpool? . If so why?. Was it the fee?, did we want him any way? Well personally I think he would have been a great buy . But also stating that since Liverpool have had are current owners with this money ball thing as a so called policy Our negotiating skills are best piss poor . With other clubs in the race to sign players we were interested in getting the vote over us . There has been a few but the Ramires thing has stumped me . We needed cover for Lucas after his injury . More so now with him breaking down again At the very least the Dempsey would be a safety net more so in the fact it was reported he wanted to go to Liverpool over Aston Villa . But no we fucked that up . So leaving us thread bare in midfield and attack a couple of bad injury’s we are fucked .

Yes there are some good kids coming though that show great promise . But this is the English Prem we are talking about, fast and physical . They should be gradually drafted in to prevent a quick burn out I am amazed that Suarez has not burned out yet , Just showing what quality he really is . But the likes of Sterling as good as he is, will burn out, he needs time .

Draw but not Disappointed

Well the City game , had time to reflect . I still feel the same as I did at the final whistle . We where good if not great . Ok 2 school boy mistakes cost us the 3 points . But other than that it was a great display of passing fighting off the ball movement . Players looking really good on the ball comfortable . With a fantastic performance from Sterling to boot . I knew we would not lose the game , Liverpool 9 times out of 10 give great displays against the top clubs, no worries. Far more positives than negatives to take from the game . END OF!! . Bring on Arsenal.....

But we need to give some so called smaller clubs a fucking good stuffing . To get us out of this rut we are in, regarding raising our game for such teams . This is costing us a Champions League slot, Playing like we did against City would do the trick . Is this a physiological thing? I think for whatever reason it is . West Brom where not any think special , We just did not turn up . This has to change, it is the spectra that is hanging over the team . I know we are going to give our all against the likes of Man U . But I will be a lot happier when we stuff a Stoke Norwich Southampton or a Reading on regular basis . This must be Rodgers main goal , raising our game for such opponents ,other wise its mid table again.... YNWA

So will Rodgers pick a team / game plan based round the teams that he played in the States?.... Well they are certainly, the teams he has worked with the most since coming to the club..... So with the pick themselves players not making the trip . It is the true test for Rodgers, he must of had game plans with these players . After all they have been working close together for over 2 months now... Very close if you think tour.  Otherwise whats the use in tours other than money... So all the talking stops with this game .... This my red friends is where we are going. 

Lets hope he gets it right. This is a true indication of whether the people who are running our club have chosen wisely .  YNWA

So we pulled it off not over convinced with the display . But a win is a win . The back 4 scared me in the 1st half terrible gaping hole on the right side . A better side would of punished us . But Rogers addressed that in the 2nd half . As he said in his post match interview , but he stuck to his guns , his manner was good ,strong . a step forward . FOOTBALL, NOT A FLASH IN THE PAN!!

LOOK!! IT HAS GONE 

Over the last couple of days there has been a beating brewing . TV and media polishing their knuckle dusters to give the football world a bit of thumping . Roy Hodgson leading the pack now he is the F.A and government puppet . Making comments like “I did not like the atmosphere at Villa Park for the Charity Shield compared to the feel good vibe of the Olympics” .
I enjoyed the Olympics I always do no matter which country it is held . But it is just over 2 weeks every 4 years run by strange old Swiss French people . With governments sucking up to them for a chance to make loads of money . Or in more cases than not lose loads of money . It remains to be seen if these islands win or lose , my guess would be the latter .
So the Olympics is a gamble, governments always think we will not make the same mistake as Athens or Sidney . Or probably every country that has held the Olympics . They all lose one way or the other . You wait it will be the investigative journalist holy grail over the next few years . With Panorama type specials coming out of the media’s ears .

So now it is Football all the way for the next 9 months . After the frenzy, tears on film, medals, new venues to show off, corporate shit ,posh people thinking they are right on, one of the gang . Well before the knuckle dusters come out THINK!!
It is not a question of will the new football season make money . It is how much will the new season make . For 9 mouths thousands and thousands of people will be travelling around the country spending money following their clubs . Take that out of the countries economy and it will nose dive . The money the country makes out of football is guaranteed, not a gamble . Roy Hodgson should know this, he has lined his nest with our money for long enough. A lot more so now he has got the yes man job .

DON'T BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU 

On the news this morning the presenter made a statement “we never get top footballers as guests on the show” Thank fuck it is not relevant . For me , I don’t care about seeing them on news programmes . It is about what they do when they cross that white line to fight for my club, is what counts.

So all the jolly hockey stick football haters flying the Olympic flag I would think again before having a go at football . The country would be in a lot more shit financially without our national game . Football is in our blood our culture . Its in the culture and blood  of a big chunk of the world, giving people common ground to come together . Far far bigger than the Olympic family , and unlike the cosmetic feel to the Olympics, the peoples game is organic . That takes place for most of the year . Long my it continue football brings the world together all year round ,every year . Not just a flash in the pan..........

Liverpool totally dominant the attack looked sharp with great link ups from Borni Suarez and Gerrard . Back four looked solid bit over casual towards the end of the half . Suarez was every where looked fit after the Olympics . Setting up Borini and Gerrard to score with his customary mazy runs into the box . Midfield looked professional with Lucas and Shelvey in the holding roll . Job made easier with Johnstone and Enrique pushing on . Giving Gerrard on the left Downing on the right space to attack the inner flanks

Gomel got tighter on Suarez but left more room for the attacking full backs pushing on . Which led to the 3^rd goal sweetly stuck half volley from the edge of the box from Johnston cutting in from the right . Liverpool should have had a few more, but it was a full on performance with a lot more thrust than last season against lesser opposition. GREAT NEWS 

Since LFC have been associated with the Money ball thing our bargaining skills have been what I can only call shit . Liverpool were always good at getting the best deals possible in the past . But over the last 2 years it is if other teams have been so careful when dealing with us . Now that maybe because we are not the great team of the past . Players are not jumping at the chance to join the reds . Opting to go with clubs that have Champions League football .

But for me the news that Luis Suarez has committed his long term future to the club is the dogs bollocks .He could of gone any where in Europe he is of the highest quality . But his heart is with us to turn this frustrating piece of Liverpool FC history around . After all last season must have been so hard for him and his family. The shit he went through he has decided to stay with the club .

He knows he will still get stick from supporters from other clubs . But he is one you can bank on, to play in the shirt with pride . As I have said in previous blogs I have watched Suarez since his early days at Ajax.

I bombarded forums and social net work sites singing his praises . Having everything crossed that my club would win his signature . I had a feeling deep down that Liverpool would get him , it came to pass . The new contract was more of a worry to me with the Evra thing . So it is massive relief he has sighed . Now I can be more interested about new signings . It is game on now for the season . As for the bad press he is receiving over the Evra thing . He is accustom to that now the truth will come out. I have always smelt a rat on the Man U side of things .

ENOUGH SAID 

My message to the opposition supporters booing Suarez is

1. Boo if your scared of Suarez
2. He could not give a fuck
3. Or most important (Q) What is worse, Being on the wrong end of racal abuse.
   Or being called a racist by millions when your not …. Its a hard call

My old mate Steve on his last job before retirement . Ending a amazing rock and roll trucking career spanning 40 years . He had retired a couple of months ago, but was asked to come back for the Olympics . Fitting end to his music industry C.V that includes . Nearly all the Rolling Stone major European tours . It is easier to name the bands he has not toured with, in every European country both old and new . Taking in every festival along the way here and abroad . So nice one mate, I am sure they will tempt you back again in near future. Thats Rock and Roll ....... 

Glastonbury Oasis at the Olympics

On Wednesday a good mate of mine phoned me asking me if I could help him out . His problem was he had injured him self working last week at the Pleasure Gardens a stones throw from the Olympic Park in London . His van was still there ,but he needed to get it off before Friday , before Olympic lock down and road closures , He was still laid up with the injury , with me knowing London and one day to go he was hoping I could help . So sick of watching all the coverage in the media wanted to see myself  ,I said “no worries” so off I went .

Central London was HOT HOT HOT . Police every where very twitchy and to be honest there was not much smiling going on . People and police had worried hot and bothered looks on their faces . It was  frenzied  at least 5 notches up on what central London usally is . After the packed underground journey it was on to the DLR (dockland railway) . Brand new and no one on it , very strange . With great views of the Olympic Park, the train travelling under the cable car from the O2 very impressive . Getting off the train at Pontoon Dock so easy the Pleasure Gardens was just across the road . At the security cabin it was G4S they where good laid back . It took a time for some one to come and meet me . But as it turned out they where all on sun break it was so hot .

I was given directions to where the van was . So I had a chance to walk around . Loads of familiar faces from Glastonbury Shangri La fields . The site had that Glastonbury feeling about it with winding gravel paths taking you round . With pieces of art work and facards that you always see up on the railway track . With a the large Victorian Warehouse as the back drop and central attraction.

To be honest I did not want to leave to go back into that London mayhem . But time was against me having to travel back through central London in a 30 year old VW camper . But I am well up for going to the Pleasure Gardens on a jolly over the next 2 weeks it is in good hands .

Rogers sticking to his Guns Good or Bad ?

With Brendan Rogers sticking to his guns of passing possession football . Sounds good but is it handing the opposition the game plan before a ball is kicked . Liverpool’s inability of breaking down the so called lesser opposition last season was clear to all . Teams came to Anfield knowing what to expect . They were happy to let Liverpool have the ball throwing men behind the ball . 9 times out of 10 we were unable to break them down . The league final standing spoke for its self .

So with-in his plans does the word unpredictability enter into his tactics . My biggest fears is 75% possession playing great stuff only to draw 0.0 or as happened last season the defeat .

The talk of not playing without a striker is understandable . I can see a two tier midfield with Suarez and Borini fitting into that . With maybe Dempsey tucking in behind as extra teeth .

But Rogers inability to back Carroll with in his plans worry s me slightly . Carroll impressed me in the later part of last season . Dropping deep hassling laying balls off putting it about in the box . My thoughts were if he kept off the piss in the pre-season he would have a 35 million season this year . But Rodgers seems not to be keen . Will that in-danger are element of surprise , is his tactics too set in stone , making it easy for opposition managers to counter act , That is my fear , I am all for my team playing attractive football . But after the last decade I would take a season of grinding out 1.0 victory’s . Keep teams guessing keep the ball but players have got to be comfortable on the ball .

Spain’s victory in the Euros was amazing but they played 3 different ways in their 6 games . The passing Spanish/Barcelona way is great, but it is on the verge of being sussed hence Spain’s switch in tactics over the tournament. So I am hoping Rodgers has a few strings to his bow , and not just a one trick pony . YNWA   

Glastonbury ghost

THIS IS SOME THINK  I PICKED UP FROM THE GLASTONBURY FORUM this what the lad said who put it up what do you think ?

Hi all, I've been meaning to stick this up here for ages, it is a photo taken at 2005s festival on I think the Saturday morning whilst wandering around the giant pond.  I took the photo of my 2 friends and it wasnt until I got it back that I saw we had an extra addition to the shot!
I remember taking the photo and have absolutely no recollection of him standing there, and he has no legs or body or shadow!
I know logically he is standing behind them and their legs are hiding his legs by a very slim chance but it just looks funny!  The way he is standing his pelvic area should be showing by the ladys (louise!) hand unless he has a very short body and very long legs, and hes standing at a bit of an angle so it just looks like you should be able to see at least some evidence he has a body!
Does anybody know this child?! It confuses me every time I look at it, I sometimes wonder if I've stumbled across a glastonbury ghost! Hehe
Anyway just thought I might share it with you guys hope u find it as funny as me

The C.D That Nearly Won The Cup

An old school friend of mine frustrated he could not find a job in the world of Football . Decided to look across the the pond for suitable qualifications to clime the football ladder . He opted for a Sports Physiology / Physio diploma in the States . He was well up on the physical aspects of the game but this diploma had a motivational twist on it .

He got the diploma and headed home. His actions looked like it had paid off as he landed a job in the physio team with Dave Jones at Cardiff . The year was 2008 and Cardiff where on an amazing cup run. They where preparing for a tricky away quarter final game at Middlesbrough .

He had brought back from the States a motivational C.D . That summed the motivational side of the diploma . On the team coach 30 minuets away from the Riverside he asked if it was ok to put the C.D ,he got the ok . The players were quite deep in their own thoughts on the game as he put the C.D in the machine . One by one it got the attention of the players as they watched in silence . The coach arrived at the Riverside . Cardiff played out of their skin, winning the game nil 2 . Booking themselves a semi final place at Wembley against Barnsley.

Fast forward to the 2008 04 08 again 30 minutes away from the ground this time Wembley . My mate was given the nod to put the C.D in the machine . Again the players in reflection watched the C.D in silence . They arrived put in a professional performance winning the game 0.1 . Booking a winnable game against Portsmouth in the F.A cup final .

So all the pre match hype began surrounding an F.A cup final . A lot of the hype was round whether Dave Jones was going to use Robbie Fowler in the super sub role. Win the cup for Cardiff in the twilight of his career . But Robbie was carrying a niggling injury . It was touch and go whether he would make the bench . Robbie was receiving treatment right up to the game he never travelled with the team in fact he caught the train to London with my mate . So you guessed it my mate never had the opportunity to play the magic C. D . The result was a 1.0 defeat . With Cardiff giving Portsmouth some early worry s but Portsmouth soon took control ending deserved winners . So my mates C. D never had a chance of effecting the game . But to my knowledge its one of the only a few state side pluses that maybe might   have effected are game . With exception of maybe Clint Dempsey and a few others . American owners of are Clubs, the jury’s is still out on that one . YNWA 

Football Supporters! What Sports Come Next ?

Its 6 weeks to the start of the season . If you don’t take the the Olympics in to consideration . But I will personally take them into consideration . Football is football is football , I am looking forward to them . But with a capital B if Team G.B were not involved and the Olympics were not in the U.K , The football would obviously not get the coverage that it is going to , So the die hard football supporters would have to turn their attentions to other sports . Do football supporters tend to lean to other sports in particular ?.

Well I can only speak for myself , family and close mates . As far as the summer Olympics are concerned the sports that create the most interest are .

(BOXING).......Football and boxing go hand in hand . When ever a Boxer wins a major title, he always ends up on the pitch at half time with his belt at his local Football club .

(HOCKEY).......The pitch is similar to football there are corners. It has the same sort of flow its physical . But the big plus with Hockey is that there are GOALS!! . I wonder were the governing body of Hockey stand on goal line technology ?. Also the women’s hockey is pleasing on the eye.

From then on it gets difficult Beach Volleyball for more ways than one . Bit of Archery , weight -lifting may be . I don’t get the swimming athletics cycling thing, Gymnastics, boat racing, rowing. all a bit strange for me . I reckon it is what catches your eye as your waiting to go out .

But as I said earlier not a problem at this Olympics . There could be another 31 live football matches on the way . With a bit of boxing and hockey on the side . A couple of weeks of transfer specs and the whistle blows NEW SEASON . Next year will be hard work unless the winter Olympics is in the Southern Hemisphere . Then a bit of Ice Hockey goes down well .  Followed by a world cup year !HAPPY DAYS!  YNWA.....
